Being exposed to high levels of microwave radiation can cause health problems, such as cataracts and burns.[1] While most microwave oven leaks are considered to be too small to create such significant health risks,[2] a microwave that is leaking radiation could cause unknown health risks and isn't likely to be as efficient as it should be.

In this tutorial you will learn how to check your microwave for radiation leakage, and no special tools or experience are required.

Note: The radition produced by a microwave is radio frequency in the 2.4GHz range, this radition is NOT radition produced by radioactive elements or nuclear science. Danger only exists during operation of the magnetron. Note: Microwaves operate by exciting a magnetron (radio frequency generator) with high voltage typically around the 2 KV range (2,000 Volts, 0.5 Amps), this is deadly voltage and current. This can kill you. Note: DO NOT alter any of the safety measures on the microwave. You have been warned.
